LOS ANGELES —The Japan Foundation, Los Angeles presents Fluxus Art for Yoko Ono, a special performance program exploring the legacy of experimental art and music associated with artist and peace activist Yoko Ono.
The event will take place on Saturday, February 28, 2026, from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m., at The Japan Foundation, Los Angeles, located at 5700 Wilshire Boulevard, Suite 100, Los Angeles, CA 90028. Admission is free, with advance registration encouraged.
This dynamic program highlights Yoko Ono’s influential participation in the Fluxus movement of the 1960s through performances of historical works alongside contemporary interpretations. The program includes a recent composition by composer Andrew Hansung Park, featuring Kaoru Kuribayashi as an electronically amplified tea ceremony practitioner, blending tradition with experimental sound and performance.
The event also features artist Gordon Fung and art historian Lidia Ferrara, who will provide educational commentary throughout the program, offering audiences historical context and insight into Fluxus philosophy and practice.
Fluxus Art for Yoko Ono tells a poetic and symbolic story of the destruction and eventual mending of a violin, reflecting key themes of fragility, repair, and transformation that resonate throughout Fluxus art. Audience participation is encouraged, inviting attendees to engage directly with the spirit of experimentation and collective experience that defines the movement.
