Final Audition for Los Angeles Representative to the 14th International Red and White Singing Festival Set for August 29 at Little Tokyo Farmers Market
LOS ANGELES, Calif. — The final audition to select the Los Angeles representative for the 14th International Red and White Singing Festival will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at the Little Tokyo Farmers Market in downtown Los Angeles.
The audition will take place on The Event Stage at Noguchi Plaza, located at the Japanese American Cultural & Community Center, 244 South San Pedro Street, Los Angeles, CA 90012.
The International Red and White Singing Festival is a unique music event in which Japanese participants sing in foreign languages and participants from around the world perform songs in Japanese. The festival was launched in Tokyo in 2011 to share a message of recovery and hope with the world following the Great East Japan Earthquake.
Since then, the event has been held annually and has expanded internationally. Beginning in 2017, auditions were introduced in countries including the Philippines, Indonesia, and Brazil, allowing representatives from overseas to participate in the contest in Japan.
The 13th International Red and White Singing Festival was held on September 19, 2025, at Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan bringing together 20 groups and 90 singers from around the world.
The 14th International Red and White Singing Festival is scheduled for November 29, 2026, at Minoh Municipal Maple Hall in Minoh, Osaka. In addition, a children’s edition, International Red and White Singing Festival in Toyoake Fujipan, will be held on November 15 in Toyoake City, Aichi Prefecture.
The Los Angeles auditions have been held monthly since January in an open-mic format as part of the Little Tokyo Farmers Market. The August 29 event will serve as the final audition, and one selected singer will be invited to travel to Japan to take part in the 14th International Red and White Singing Festival in Minoh, Osaka, this November.
