Presented by the Hiroshima International Council for Health Care of Radiation-Exposed (HICARE), the seminar will bring together three leading medical and public health representatives from Hiroshima to discuss the long-term health effects of atomic bomb radiation, the responsibilities of physicians in the nuclear age, and support for atomic bomb survivors living outside Japan.
The program is being held in cooperation with the Institute for Medical Leadership at UCLA and the Los Angeles County Medical Association.

From Hiroshima to the World
HICARE was established to help Hiroshima share its medical knowledge and experience with people around the world affected by radiation exposure. Drawing on the medical and scientific experience accumulated in Hiroshima since the atomic bombing, HICARE promotes international cooperation and contributes to the advancement of healthcare for radiation-exposed populations.
The UCLA seminar provides a rare opportunity for the Los Angeles medical and Japanese American communities to hear directly from experts who have been involved in Hiroshima’s long-term efforts in medicine, research, survivor care and international cooperation.
