The Japan Korea Society and the Higashi Honganji Buddhist Temple in Los Angeles are co-sponsoring the Second Little Tokyo Japan Korea Harmony Concert on Sunday, April 18 from 2:00 pm at the Higashi Honganji Buddhist Temple located at 505 East 3rd Street, Los Angeles, CA 90013. Free admission.
With the increasing numbers of Korean residents and commercial entities in the community, the Japan Korea Society headed by Rev. Hongsun Kim, has been working to bring the two communities closer together.
This concert will feature two performers, Cheonho Yoon, a trumpeter of Korean background who grew up in Japan, and Hitoshi Suzuki playing the cello.
Both were a part of the orchestra of famed conductor, Seiji Ozawa, in his opera project.
Yoon holds the position of first trumpet for the West Virginia Symphony Orchestra, while Suzuki is currently the first cellist of the Orange County Symphony.
They will perform traditional favorites from Korea and Japan, as well as some of their best classical pieces. In addition to the music, we will air the director¹s cut of a short documentary introducing the work to harmonize the Korean and Japanese communities in Los Angeles.
The event is being presented free-of-charge. For information, contact Rev. Hongsun Kim at (310) 339-9635, and Rinban Noriaki Ito at (213) 626-4200.
