The Nikkei Women Legacy Association presents Nisei Week Fashion Event 2017 on Saturday, Sept. 16, from 10 am – 4 pm for boutique, from 11:30 am – 2 pm for luncheon and fashion show, at Almansor Court : 700 S. Almansor Street : Alhambra, CA 91801.
The 2017 Nisei Week Fashion Event will showcase elegant contemporary dresses and gowns from Bella Bridesmaids, one of a kind wearable art pieces by Janet Kaneko and a retrospective tribute to renowned Nikkei fashion designer, Iris Teragawa.
Teragawa began designing women’s dresses, gowns, coats and accessories in the late 1950s. Her stylish boutique was in West Hollywood for over 30 years. Teragawa’s classic couture creations are noted for impeccable tailoring skills, have stood the test of time and collected by fashion lovers to this day.
In addition to the runway fashions, from 10 am – 4 pm, there will be a shopping boutique with over 20 booths: Specialty clothing – jewelry – accessories – food products – various arts and crafts.
The Nikkei Women Legacy Association presents the works of two Nikkei fashion designers back onto the runway. Ms. Teragawa and Ms. Kaneko are recognized for their timeless creations that continue to be coveted by fashion connoisseurs.
Proceeds from this event will benefit the Terasaki Budokan (community facility/gymnasium), the Nisei Week Foundation and other charitable organizations.
