Yukiko Chikamoto "Half Awake, Half Asleep"

Chikamoto is currently a graduate student at master course of art education at Tokyo Gakugei University in Tokyo. She was selected as the 2017 winner of the Robert Crowder Award by the Nihongain, artist association for Japanese painting in Japan.

Robert Crowder (1911-2010) was renowned Japanese style painter in Los Angeles, and in 1950’ his artworks were called “Crowder Screens” by art collectors.

Using bequest of late Crowder, the Robert Crowder Award was established by the Nihongain in Tokyo with the support of the Robert Crowder Foundation in Los Angeles to provide emerging Japanese painting artists opportunities of exposing their artworks in Los Angles.
