Mayor Announces One-Time $800 Gift for L.A.'s Food Service Employees
The nonprofit Mayor’s Fund for Los Angeles is offering a one-time $800 stipend to employees who work in food service industries, including restaurants, breweries and food stands.
Online applications will be accepted starting Monday, Dec. 7, it was announced this week by Mayor Eric Garcetti.
Only 4,000 stipends will be granted. Eligibility requirements are:
- Applicant must reside in the city of Los Angeles;
- Applicant must be 18 years of age or older;
- Applicant’s income for the year 2019 must have been less than $58,450.
- Applicant is experiencing economic hardship in 2020 due to COVID-19 related job loss or a reduction in income of at least 50 per cent at a food service establishment as a front or back of house employee.
