The Huntington Library presents online lecture “The Role of the Japanese Tea Hut in Understanding the Way of Tea” on Thursday, January 18, from 4:00 – 5:15 pm. Free and reservation required.
Bruce Sosei Hamana, a tea ceremony expert with the Urasenke Tankokai Federation, will discuss the chashitsu—the traditional tearoom. He will explore how the structures are used in chado, "The Way of Tea," and how they played a vital role in spreading an understanding of tea aesthetics outside of Japan.
