Consulate General of Japan in Los Angeles originally set the schedule of Los Angeles voting of  the Japan’s Upper House election from July 4 to July 13.

On July 3, the Consulate General office announced “Due to a scheduled protest around the City Hall and federal government facilities in downtown Los Angeles on Friday, July 4th, voting at the overseas location of Los Angeles on that day will be canceled."

The Japanese voting location of Los Angeles has been set at the Japanese American Cultural & Community Center, 244 South San Pedro Street, Los Angeles, CA 90012.

The rescheduled voting period of the Japan’s Upper House election is from Saturday, July 5 to Sunday, July 13, 2025.

On July 2, the Consulate General office sent a warning via email to Japanese residents in the jurisdiction of the Los Angeles office.

On Friday, July 4th, a protest is scheduled to take place around the Los Angeles City Hall and federal government facilities in downtown.

On that day, not only at the planned protest venue but also in the surrounding areas, there is a possibility of demonstrations and marches, and traffic restrictions may be imposed on nearby roads.

Protests may also take place in areas outside of Los Angeles, so please make efforts to obtain the latest information through media reports and exercise caution by avoiding places where protests are taking place.
