LOS ANAGELES, CA — LA Kimono Club will host its Annual Kimono Contest, taking place during the Oshogatsu in Little Tokyo event on January 1, 2026, from 1:30 PM to 2:00 PM at Weller Court, Little Tokyo, 123 Astronaut Ellison S Onizuka Street, Los Angeles, CA 90012.

This vibrant celebration invites anyone over the age of 16 with a passion for Japanese tradition to participate by wearing an authentic Japanese kimono—preferably formal.

Contestants will take the stage, walk with confidence, and strike their best poses. Both judges and the audience will vote to select the participant who best embodies the beauty and spirit of kimonos, ultimately naming the Kimono ambassador for 2026.

The registration fee is $20, payable via Zelle (lakimonoclub.am@gmail.com) or Venmo (@lakimonoclub). All participants and winners will receive special gifts from sponsors, including a gorgeous formal Obi, a flower arrangement bouquet, Japanese accessories, Tabi socks, and a professional studio portrait session for the winner. Additional surprises may await attendees.

The first prize winner will represent LA Kimono Club at public events throughout 2026, sharing the elegance of kimono culture with the wider community.

For those who do not own a kimono set, affordable purchase and rental options are available. Interested participants are encouraged to contact LA Kimono Club for more information.

“We look forward to welcoming participants and guests to this unique event and celebrating the timeless beauty of Japanese kimono culture together,” said the organizers of LA Kimono Club.
