The parade will start on Sunday, August 14, at 5:30 pm in Los Angeles’ Little Tokyo district, First, Second and Los Angeles streets.

The August 14 Grand Parade will feature small, colorful and illuminated goldfish decorations made in Los Angeles accompanied by “L.A.’s Best” afterschool program kids.

The school kinds also will be carrying Japanese style paper kites flown in recognition of the earthquake/tsunami disaster relief efforts. A banner will accompany them that reads, “Japan will soar again!”

In addition, Parade Marshal Tommy Lasorda will lead the pack that includes a 15-vehicle-military-processional to commemorate the signing of Congressional bill S1055 that will award the Congressional Gold Medal to the WWII Japanese American veterans.
