2015 / Nisei Week / Cultural showcase at Community Center, Aug 15-16


Japanese American Cultural and Community Center

The Japanese American Cultural and Community Center celebrates the 2015Nisei Week Japanese Festival with Taiko, Japanese classical folk dancers, martial arts, musical performances and DJ’s throughout the day.

Exhibitions will include Japanese prefectural displays as well as artisans skilled in Ikebana, Bonsai, Japanese Dolls, Calligraphy, and Tea Ceremony.

The JACCC’s cultural exhibitions will be held on August 15-16 and August 22-23, from 11:00 am – 6:00 pm.

August 15-16:

Ikebana exhibit by Ikebana Teachers Association of Southern California. The exhibitions include four major ikebana schools, Ikenobo, Ohara, Shofu and Sogetsu. 10 am – 5 pm

Tea Demonstration by Urasenke Tankokai Los Angeles Association. 11 am – 4 pm

“Fish to Birds” Jazz Vocalists

Nisei Week Book Fair will feature Todd Shimoda, Amy Uyematsu, Stan Sakai, Marsha Aizumi, Naomi Hirahara, Kerry Yo Nakagawa, Sunny Seki and Lora Nakamura; Ceramic exhibit; Japanese Jazz singers

Musical performances by Southern California’s premier ukulele group

Rukik’s Cube Contest; Fujinkai Bazaar Sale

Rokkon Sai, a special performance from Japan, 3-4 pm.
