2022 / Makoto Taiko to present first concert after two-year of pandemic challenges at Aratani Theatre, June 18, 7PM

Makoto Taiko invites the public to join their 23rd anniversary concert– “Hajime!” – on Saturday, June 18, 2022, at the Aratani Theatre in downtown Los Angeles.

Joining the members of Makoto Taiko on stage will be Grammy Award-winning Taiko Master Koji Nakamura; Grammy Award-nominated musician, composer, and producer Shoji Kameda; koto, shamisen, and vocal artist Sumie Kaneko; taiko artist, composer, and arranger Isaku Kageyama, and taiko performer, composer, and shinobue artist David Wells.

The theme of Hajime!— which can be translated as “Begin!”—is especially apt as Makoto Taiko emerges from more than two years of pandemic-related challenges and looks forward to once again sharing the vibrant and energetic spirit of taiko with our community.

Purchasing concert tickets to what will be an evening of powerful music is one way the public can show their support.

Additionally, please consider making a donation. Any amount will help Makoto Taiko continue their concert tradition, expand their curriculum to welcome new students, purchase and maintain their drums, share taiko with new audiences, and further our mission to connect and empower people of all backgrounds by advancing the practice of taiko with intention and sincerity.
