The Omotesenke Domonkai Southern California Branch invites the public to its 50th Anniversary Event featuring Special Lecture by Yuyusai Sousho,15th Generation Grand Tea Master “Iemoto” of Omotesenke school at the Crystal Cove Auditorium on the campus of the University of California, Irvine, 4113 Pereira Drive, Irvine, CA, 92617 on Sunday, June 23 from 10:30 a.m.
On June 23, 2024, Registration at 10:30 am; Tea Offering at 11:00 am; Special Lecture at 1:00 pm.
The theme of the special lecture is about the exquisite Japanese tea ceremony, Cha-no-yu. The lecture will be in English.
Delve into the rich traditions and profound philosophy behind Cha-no-yu as the Grand Master shares insights and wisdom accumulated over generations.
Open to all tea enthusiasts and those curious about Japanese culture, this event promises an unforgettable journey into the world of Cha-no-yu.
In the year 2020, Omotesenke Domonkai Southern and Northern California branches marked the 50th anniversary of their establishments.
Due to the pandemic, the Omotesenke Domonkai Southern California branch’s 50th anniversary commemorative event was postponed, but they are delighted that the Omotesenke Kyoto Fushinan will host a special lecture by Yuyusai Sosho, the 15th generation Headmaster. This is a precious opportunity for Omotesenke members to welcome the Headmaster and hear him speak on Omotesenke tea culture.
Fees are $ 30 including tea and sweets per person. Please note that there may be an additional parking fee payable on-site, separate from the event registration fee.
Registration: Once the registration is completed, a QR code for the event will be emailed to you. Please check-in using the QR code at the registration desk.
Registration deadline: June 20, 2024 (Thursday) Please note that registration will be closed once capacity is reached, even if it’s before the deadline.
