This event marks the launch of the booklet “Healing in Community,” created through a partnership between OCAPICA and LA Artcore. The workshop will feature reflective conversations exploring how art-based and creative healing approaches can support individuals and communities in their grieving and healing processes.
Topics will include personal loss, cultural identity, and political distress. Attendees will also participate in a Community Altar gathering.
The collaboration began in the summer of 2024 to integrate cultural literacy into OCAPICA’s free professional mental health services. Artist and cultural organizer Natalie Bui, known for her work at the intersection of visual art, social justice, and cultural literacy, led the creation of the workbook-zine.
Developed through interviews and exploratory prompts with community members, the zine maps and explores intergenerational grief. Its release follows a successful in-person workshop at OCAPICA’s space on August 20, 2025.
