SAN MARINO, CA — The Huntington Library, Art Museum, and Botanical Gardens invites the public to experience the beauty and artistry of bonsai during Bonsai Celebration, taking place Saturday, February 28, and Sunday, March 1, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Brody Botanical Center.

The event is free with general admission and highlights one of the largest and most significant bonsai collections in the United States.

At the heart of the weekend celebration is the Huntington Bonsai-A-Thon, presented by the Golden State Bonsai Federation. The Bonsai‑A‑Thon features exceptional exhibitions by the California Bonsai Society, showcasing a wide range of species, styles, and sizes—from centuries‑old twisted junipers to stately elm forests and majestic pines.

Designed for both newcomers and seasoned enthusiasts, Bonsai Celebration offers something for everyone. Visitors can enjoy expert‑led demonstrations, explore a bonsai marketplace, participate in a live auction, and discover world‑class specimens cultivated by leading bonsai artists.

Proceeds from the Bonsai‑A‑Thon support the Golden State Bonsai Federation’s bonsai collection at The Huntington. The federation is a nonprofit educational organization dedicated to promoting and preserving the art of bonsai through exhibitions, education, and public engagement.

A special highlight of the weekend includes related programming such as Meet a Gardener: The Art of Penjing on February 28, offering additional insight into related traditions of miniature tree artistry.
