The 40th annual Torrance Bunka-Sai Japanese Cultural Arts Festival to be held on Saturday and Sunday, April 21-22, at Torrance’s cultural arts complex.
The Ken Miller Recreational Center at Torrance Cultural Arts Complex is located at 3341 Civic Center Drive, Torrance, CA 90503.
In addition to martial arts demonstrations — Aikido, Judo, Kendo, Naginata — there will be bonsai, ikebana (flower arranging), tea ceremony, and Shodo (calligraphy) demonstrations.
Performing arts groups will include: Japanese dance, minyo (folk music), koto, and taiko (drums).
The entire family will be entertained at this event, and there will be games and activities (including Origami) for small children.
Join us in the City of Torrance for this fundraising event which supports the Torrance Sister City Association’s partnership program with the City of Kashiwa (in Chiba-ken), Japan.
Meet the eight high school students from Torrance who will travel to Kashiwa this summer on a three-week summer program as representatives from our community.
But most important of all, learn about and enjoy the spirit of Japanese culture at this festive event. Admission and parking are free.
