LOS ANAGELES, CA — The Shinto Shrine of Shusse Inari in America invites the public to celebrate the arrival of 2026 with two traditional Shinto ceremonies at its pop-up Shrine in the Oshogatsu Little Tokyo event.
On Thursday, January 1, 2026, at 10:00 AM, the Shrine will host Saitan-sai (歳旦祭), the first Shinto ceremony of the new year. Saitan-sai is a time-honored ritual to pray to the nature spirits (Kami-sama) for happiness, good fortune, prosperity, good health, and world peace throughout the coming year. All are welcome to attend this free event and are kindly asked to remain until the ceremony concludes.
Later that day, at 1:30 PM, the Shrine will hold its monthly Tsukinami-sai (月次祭) ceremony, also open to the public at no charge. This gathering offers another opportunity for the community to come together in prayer and reflection for continued blessings in the new year.
Both events will take place at the Shrine’s pop-up location at Oshogatsu in Little Tokyo event. The Shinto Shrine of Shusse Inari encourages everyone to join in these meaningful traditions and experience the spirit of Shinto firsthand.
