2017 / Little Tokyo Library: Author Recognition Luncheon to feature Naomi Shibata, July 22

The Friends of Little Tokyo Branch Library will host their 31st Author Recognition Luncheon on Saturday, July 22, 2017.

This year’s program features last year’s honoree, author Naomi Shibata (“Bend With the Wind: The Life, Family, and Writings of Grace Eto Shibata”), and the Nisei participants in Ms. Shibata’s “Never Forgotten: A Nisei Writing Workshops”.

The Workshops were co-sponsored by the Little Tokyo Branch Library, the Friends and by Poets & Writers, Inc. which generously contributed financial support.

Led by Ms. Shibata, the Nisei participants were encouraged to give voice to their generation from their unique personal experiences.

These first-time writers will be sharing their first efforts at the Luncheon. It will be an opportunity to share the insights and perspectives that will be sure to resonate with all who have lived in Japanese America, and to encourage others to do the same.

Please join the Friends and the participants of the Workshop on the 22nd.

The event will be held at the Little Tokyo Branch Library.

Admission is $15.00 (Non-Members) and $12.00 (Friends Members), which will include a bento lunch. Doors will open at 11:00 a.m.

You won’t want to miss this unique, once-in-a-life time event. Bring your grandchildren (especially the ones who ask, “What did you do during the war, Grandpa?”).

The Little Tokyo Branch Library is located at 203 South Los Angeles Street, Los Angeles, CA 90012.

Valet parking for library patrons will be available on the Second Street side (northside) of the library. Validations will be provided for the event.

For ADA accommodations, please call (213) 612-0525 at least 72 hours prior to the event.
