LOS ANGELES – Los Angeles-born, Japan-based artist Barbara Endo Uemura brings her “Happy Hearts Art” collection to her hometown with the exhibition, “Tribute to Japanese Culture,” now open to the public.
The show, which is on view at the Miyako Hotel in the heart of Los Angeles’s Little Tokyo district, highlights traditional Japanese materials and techniques to create vibrant, heartwarming artwork.
Uemura, who now resides in Kagoshima, Japan, describes her unique style as “Happy Hearts Art.” Her work is a celebration of Japanese culture, incorporating authentic materials such as washi paper, vintage kimono and obi fabrics, origami, mizuhiki decorative cord, and Kanji calligraphy.
The exhibition features over 100 original art pieces, along with handmade goods from Japan, including books, postcards, and various accessories, all available for purchase.
