ANAHEIM, CA - Orange County Buddhist Church (OCBC) will be commemorating the birth of the historical Buddha with a celebration of Japanese Culture at their Hanamatsuri (Flower) Festival.
This event will have games and prizes, handcrafted items for sale, traditional Japanese entertainment and exhibits, and delicious food featuring some new items.
Experience Japanese culture through live demonstrations by martial artists, singers, classical dancers, and taiko drum performances by OCBC’s Daion and Seishun Taiko.
Cultural displays will include examples of rare Japanese artifacts, swords, bonsai, tea ceremony, kimekomi dolls, ikebana, and calligraphy.
The Hondo (Main Hall) will be open for tours with opportunities for visitors to pour sweet tea on a statue of the infant Buddha atop a beautiful floral arrangement.

Admission is FREE with parking at Magnolia High School on 2450 W. Ball Road in Anaheim. Shuttle service to and from the festival will be running from 12:30 PM to 7:30 PM.

Daion Taiko, formed in 1978, is one of the oldest Japanese-American Buddhist Taiko groups in the United States. Daion in Japanese means Great Sound of Enlightenment. The 75 member group ranges in age from 10 to adult. Many of its songs have been written by group members, blending traditional Japanese rhythms with contemporary western music to form its unique sound.
