Message from Pasadena Buddhist Temple Board of Directors
May 3, 2025 - We are in the final stages of working with our insurance company and getting estimates for remediation and repairs of our campus buildings (including the parsonage) from the January Eaton Fire.
Most of the damage is from smoke and ash that blew into our buildings and minister's residence. We hope to begin work in May, but have no word yet on what insurance will cover.
Since January we have not been able to hold physical fundraisers nor collect rent for the regular use of our gym. We are facing a huge financial burden for 2025 as the remediation must be done to make the buildings as safe as possible and then repairs and safety improvements will be put in place..
Our first fundraiser prioritized helping our Sangha recover. Thanks to our generous donors we distributed nearly $90,000 to fire victims, which far exceeded our fund-raising goal of $20,000.
Now it is the temple's turn. We would be grateful for any donation that you are able to make to our Temple and Parsonage Fire Recovery Fund.
Our goal of $100,000 is about a quarter of our estimated recovery costs.
This fund is intended to pay for amounts not covered by insurance, FEMA or SBA loans.
Donations can be made online by using the Link or by sending a check payable to "Pasadena Buddhist Temple" to Pasadena Buddhist Temple at 1993 Glen Avenue, Pasadena, 91103.
If you have any questions, please email the temple at PasadenaSangha@gmail.com.
Thank you. Namo Amida Butsu.
