Live performance “On the Way Home” by CenTRaLAve Music

Based on the true story of Megumi Yokota, who was abducted in 1977 at just 13 years old by undercover North Korean agents. Megumi’s fate was unknown for 20 years, until North Korea confessed their role in over a dozen abductions of Japanese citizens. Yet decades have passed with still no fundamental solution in sight.

Megumi’s mother Sakie has fought for her daughter’s return for over 46 years, still continuing her battle to this day. While Megumi has become the face of the North Korean abduction issue, this is not just an issue of Japan. Victims span multiple countries and nationalities, and it’s time this injustice is known across the world.

Screening “The Pledge to Megumi” is organized by NPO M-Project, in collaboration with JAPAN HOUSE  Los Angeles, and supported by Consulate General of Japan in Los Angeles.
