On Jan. 1 at Little Tokyo, the LA Kimono Club selected Lindsay Seino as Miss Kimono LA 2014, Mami Koizumi as runner-up, and Andy Matsuda as Mr. Kimono LA 2014.

The 2014 contest was held at Japanese Village Plaza shopping center to coincide with the New Year’s Day celebration events organized by the Japanese Chamber of Commerce in Southern California.

For sharing the joy of Kimono and promoting mutual understanding and cultural exchanges between U.S. and Japan, the LA Kimono Club supports various Kimono events in Los Angeles.

Five contestants for Miss Kimono LA and two contestants for Mr. Kimono LA showcased their kimono by walking solo, “striking a pose,” and doing a full turn for judges. Japanese kimono experts evaluated the type of kimono, as well as how beautifully it’s showcase and worn.

Lindsay Seino studies at California State University Northridge majoring nursing and psychology. Mami Koizumi is an actress. Andy Matsuda is an owner and chief instructor of the Sushi Chef Institute in Torrance.

Winners were presented at the annual Kimono Fashion Show in New Year’s Day celebration event of Little Tokyo. www.lakimonoclub.com
