2023/10/29: The Jazz Bakery presents composer/conductor MIHO HAZAMA & her m_unit ensemble at Aratani Theatre, Sunday, Oct. 29 at 7PM

The Jazz Bakery is returning to the Japanese American Cultural Community Center to present Grammy nominated Tokyo-born jazz composer extraordinaire Miho Hazama and her unique fourteen-piece ensemble m_unit.

A consummate composer/conductor dedicated to artistry and exploration, Miho has written for jazz artists such as Joshua Redman, Christian McBride, and Lionel Loueke.

Hazama has built an extensive international reputation, and this is a rare opportunity for Angelinos to experience this brilliant artist.

Miho brings a fresh and deeply stirring approach to ensemble music, blending strings, French horn and vibraphone with a horn and rhythm section of the highest caliber.

She will be performing music from her new album, Beyond Orbits. The Exoplanet Suite is the centerpiece of the album. It is a hauntingly beautiful tribute to the captivating mystery of planets that exist beyond our solar system.

To enhance the concert experience, the Jazz Bakery is bringing in NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory. Their scientists will be providing information, graphics, and free swag about exoplanets at a booth in the theatre lobby.

Tickets are available for the Sunday, October 29, 2023 concert at 7 p.m. $35.00 general admission and $25.00 for students with ID.
