2023: Santa Barbara welcomes Japanese diplomat: Meeting with Mayor, Sister City Association; Visiting to Teahouse & Genealogy Exhibit

Japanese Consul General Kenko Sone visited to Santa Barbara on Sept. 13, 2023 and met Santa Barbara County’s people including: Mayor of Santa Barbara City, Santa Barbara Toba Sister City Organization, Shinakan Teahouse at Santa Barbara Botanical Garden, and Santa Barbara Genealogy Society.

Including Japanese Americans, the history of Asian American Pacific Islanders (AAPI) go back to the 1870s.

Santa Barbara County Genealogical Society presents “AAPI Heritage: 1870s – 1970s Exhibit” at Sahyun Library, 316 Castillo Street, Satna Barbara until Dec. 6, 2023. The exhibit is open and free to the public.
